Milan and the Brazilian youngster believed a deal with Corinthians had been struck, which would see him move to Italy in June.
However, a backlash from fans and threats from coach Dorival Junior of resigning over a midseason sale saw Corinthians pull back from negotiations last week.
It's now emerging that communication lines between the two clubs remain open.
Tuttosport says Corinthians have now shown a willingness to sell, but for €7m more than the agreed €17m fee, which had actually seen the two clubs sign a memorandum of understanding.
For their part, Milan are reluctant to see the fee revised, though are encouraged that Corinthians are softening their stance after last week's confusion.
