Wolves forward Fer Lopez is set to leave the club on loan this January as he continues to struggle.

After the defeat to Arsenal, manager Rob Edwards was asked about Lopez and his lack of confidence in front of goal.

“I just think this is how it can go for strikers. I thought he scored a great goal at Villa the other week, it obviously got chalked off with the offside decision.

“He’s fighting and working really hard for the team and good things will come if you keep working really hard as he is, good things will come.”

Despite Edwards’ hope in the 21-year-old, the ExpressAndStar report that Lopez is set for a January loan following a frustrating start to life at Molineux which sees him with 0 goals in 7 Premier League appearances.

Last month, Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giraldez was asked about a potential return for Lopez and expressed how they would love to see him back at the club.

“We would love for him to return. He’s exactly the type of player we need. We’ve expressed our interest, but it seems difficult. They invested a significant amount of money, and it was very recently,” he said.

“We have all 25 squad spots filled. If we can offload a couple of players, someone with Fer López’s profile, whether it’s him or another player, would be very interesting.”

Wolves paid in the region of £19m to make the unproven Spaniard their first signing in the summer window that has not panned out so far.
