West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen says victory over Sunderland was thoroughly deserved.

The Hammers won 3-1 in today's early kickoff, with Bowen scoring from the penalty spot.

“Winning three in a row is always nice,” Bowen said. “It’s QPR, Tottenham and Sunderland today, so that’s a really good position to be in.

“Like I’ve said many times though, it’s up to us to go out there and do that, and to perform. Certainly over the last few weeks we’ve done that, and I think we’ve shown we can win in different ways.

“The first half was great, and we always knew there’d be a reaction from them in the second half. That’s normal. It happened last week at Tottenham, after we’d gone 1-0 up, and then we have to show a different side of our game.

“It’s about how we defend and keep the ball out of our net, and although we didn’t do that, I think we were always in a good position. We’ve got attacking intent going forward and defensively I think we’re looking a lot better as well, so there are a lot of positives.”

Bowen added: “My message to the players before the game today was to be a side that enjoys winning, to go back-to-back and to build that consistency, because top teams never let off.

“Top teams turn up in every single game and win in different ways, so we’ve got to keep trying to do that. We’ve done it over the last few weeks, and the main thing is we’re winning games. So, long may that continue and for sure we’ll be looking to win at Chelsea."
