Right-back Alexander-Arnold left Liverpool for Real Madrid in the summer and has failed to find his place under manager Xabi Alonso as he is overshadowed by Dani Carvajal. He was left out of the starting line-up for Real Madrid's 3-0 win at Real Oviedo on Sunday, and Tuchel was never likely to pick him when he is struggling in La Liga.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliott Anderson and Tottenham full-back Djed Spence get their first call-ups as they seek their England debut. Jack Grealish misses out despite his excellent performances in an Everton shirt in recent weeks, whilst Manchester United outcast and now Barcelona loan star Marcus Rashford and Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton are recalled.
35-year-old Jordan Henderson is also called up despite having limited minutes for Brentford so far as Tuchel relies on his leadership qualities as well as his vast experience with the like of Sunderland, Ajax and of course Liverpool.
Here is Tuchel's 24-man England squad for the September World Cup qualifiers, which includes some interesting additions.
