Newcastle United owners Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are reportedly in talks to sell a minority stake in the club as part of plans to finance a major stadium project and strengthen the club’s long-term financial position.

According to Reuters, the PIF is exploring investment opportunities that could help fund either a large-scale redevelopment of St James’ Park or the construction of a brand-new stadium valued at more than £1 billion.

The strategy would allow Newcastle to raise fresh capital while remaining compliant with Premier League financial regulations.

Reports suggest the club is also considering securitising future commercial revenues to improve liquidity and support squad investment.

Chief executive David Hopkinson confirmed the club faces a major decision regarding its stadium future, while maintaining ambitions to compete consistently at the top level under manager Eddie Howe.

Despite missing out on European qualification this season, the PIF remains committed to the Magpies’ long-term growth both on and off the pitch.
