The 20 time English champions jumped to sixth in the Premier League table after a win over bottom of the league Wolves, who are yet to win a game this season.

Goals from Bryan Mbeumo, Mason Mount and a brace from Bruno Fernandes sealed an away victory for United that pushed the side into the European spots, which will be manager Ruben Amorim’s ultimate goal this season.

Fernandes, who teed up Mount’s effort, is just the fifth player in the Premier League era to have provided an assist in five consecutive away games in what is an impressive feat.

Muzzy Izzet (2003), Cesc Fabregas (2014-15), Gerard Deulofeu (2015) and Mohamed Salah (2023) are the only over players to reach such an achievement.

He has six assists to his name this season and only two players in Europe’s top five divisions have more, in Bayern Munich star Michael Olise (eight) and Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal (seven).

Fernandes’ iconic performance leaves Wolves stranded on two points after 15 games, eight points from safety as the side head for relegation this season. The Portugal international has now recorded three goal involvements in a single top-flight fixture on eight occasions as he continues his ruthless form.
