United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has spoken to several potential replacements, including Thomas Tuchel in Monaco on Tuesday.
However, the German has no interest in the job and is planning for a break after a difficult past year at Bayern Munich.
There is now a growing belief that Ten Hag will be confirmed for next season, with many of Ratcliffe's confidants believing the Dutchman deserves a chance to prove himself within the new environment they're creating.
