Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has explained holding back Bryan Mbeumo for Saturday's preseason friendly win against West Ham.

The £70m signing didn't make the matchday squad for the 2-1 victory.

Amorim said afterwards: "Bryan is starting slowly. He is not going to play in the next one.

"We hope to have Bryan in the last game (in the United States). He's training now, so we'll see."

Amorim also stated striker Joshua Zirkzee is recovering from a "small issue", while fullback Noussair Mazraoui was absent due to a knock.
