It was a second straight 3-0 Premier League defeat this weekend as Liverpool collapsed to Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Slot has led his side to three wins in the last 11 games in all competitions, leading to many fans calling for a swift replacement.
The Reds’ summer transfer spend of around £450M has failed and Slot’s title race is over. Reports have claimed that if results do not change, Slot will be let go despite winning the title last season.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says the Dutchman is safe for now and believes that the club are not currently thinking of replacing him.
“At the moment, I don’t have any sort of information on Liverpool’s owners deciding to take a decision imminently, I mean now, today, tomorrow, on Arne Slot,” Romano said on his YouTube channel on Sunday.
“Liverpool are not thinking about changing the manager now. Obviously the owners, the club, want to see a different kind of result, different kind of performances.
“They expect much more, by Arne Slot and by this team. For sure, Liverpool want to see something different from the manager and the players, because this is not only Arne Slot. The players also have to take responsibility, as Virgil van Dijk said.
“It’s the players and the coach. Obviously Arne Slot knows the situation is dangerous and complicated now, but at the same time Arne Slot can feel the backing and the support from the club.
“Liverpool are not in talks with any other manager, (or) considering the possibility to fire the coach. That is the situation as of today. Of course results have to change imminently, especially in the Premier League.”
Liverpool have now lost six of their 12 Premier League matches this season, which isn’t good enough for the title challengers. The last manager to be sacked was Brendan Rodgers in 2015 and it would come as a shock if Slot is brutally let go.
