As reports flood in stating that Manchester City will consider joining the battle for Guehi if centre backs Manuel Akanji and Nathan Ake are sold this week by manager Pep Guardiola, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given an update on the England international who wants the move to Merseyside.
“Despite reports on Man City and more clubs, Marc Guehi situation has not changed: Liverpool is his favourite destination.
“Guehi wants #LFC, talks still ongoing for deal to happen before end of the window.
“If not possible with Palace, Liverpool will be on it for 2026.”
Palace chairman Steve Parish has already said Guehi would be sold unless he was willing to sign a new contract as if the club hold on to him past January then they will lose him for free once his contract expires which would be a huge blow to the side.
The Reds only have a week or so to wrap up a deal for the Crystal Palace defender however and must move quick before next week’s deadline which is fast approaching. The Englishman will want guarantees over his playing time under manager Arne Slot however which may be the toughest part of negotiations this week.
