The Cherries had the better of the game as Sunday's Dean Court clash finished 0-0.
Iraola told the Daily Echo: “Yes, as you said, probably we respected each other a lot and it has been very different from the last Bournemouth Newcastle games.
“I take a lot of positives. Obviously probably it's not the result that we finished completely pleased.
“But I think if there was a team closer to scoring I think it was Bournemouth and I was pleased with certain details.
“Not conceding a lot of set pieces. Defending well the ones we conceded. Probably offensively I like the first 30 minutes, I think we attacked really well a low block, very compact.
“But probably after these 30 minutes we haven't found those spaces and everything has become more difficult.
“It was a game where it's true that we didn't have to defend a lot of defensive actions but you had to be very careful because they have speed and they are very good in the counter.”
