Brighton are seven points clear of the dropzone ahead of today's trip to Brentford.
Hurzeler said: "We have to look at the table as it is. That's the reality. Right now we are in the middle of the table. We are seven points away from demolition and six points from Europe.
"That is why we are in a position where there are different ways to look at it.
"There are the optimistic who look upwards because we want to move forward, we have something to achieve, and then there are those who may look down and get nervous.
"To me, it's about focusing on the next fight, looking at what we can influence and control, and it's only the next match that matters.
"If we can get a positive path, things can change quickly, especially now that the Premier League is so close.
"The most important thing is not to worry about Europe or the demolition struggle, but to concentrate on what we can control."
