Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe says one of his two new strikers will make Saturday's clash with Wolves.

While selling Alexander Isak to Liverpool, Newcastle brought in Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa from Stuttgart and Brentford respectively.

Ahead of their clash at St James' Park, Howe said: "It is impossible to replace Alex like for like. He is totally unique and it is important we don't compare who we bring in to Alex.

"Each player is their own individual and they both have proven quality. Yoane has proven Premier League quality and Nick is very creative who will help us around the final third."

Woltemade is ready

Indeed, on Woltemade, Howe continued: "He is fine, he has trained well. I've been really pleased with how he's trained in the last few days. He has got a great mentality, a great nature and it is really great how he has settled in.

"He is relaxed, funny, he has a great sense of humour. He spoke really well about the team dynamic and bringing his qualities to the group and he is very selfless in that respect.

"I've seen pictures of him out and about and that is good because we need him to feel like this is home. He is big in size but he is not necessarily a traditional target man. He is a very different player, his technical ability is really high. He's a really good manipulator of the ball and he is very good in tight spaces."

Wissa out

Meanwhile, Howe conceded Wissa won't be fit for a home debut tomorrow.

He said, "He won't make this game. I saw him for the first time yesterday. he is feeling the effects of the injury he sustained before he came off so we will have to see how he is. He will go away for tests and maybe see a specialist to see."

Another new arrival, former Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey, is also out.

Howe explained, "Jacob Ramsey will miss the game after suffering from that tackle against Leeds. His ankle is swollen and unfortunately I think he will be missing until the last international break. Joe is fit and available and been out on the training pitch so it's great to have him back."

Isak relationship changed

Returning to the sale of Isak, Howe admits he was left disappointed by the Swede's actions in preseason.

He said, "Alex and I always enjoyed a great relationship. I loved working with him and I hope he loved working with us. We helped him become the player who departed us today and he helped us achieve some important milestones.

"The moment he went on strike our relationship did change and that was a turning point in our relationship. Communication became difficult from that point onwards."

Howe also rubbished claims of problems with working alongside sporting directors.

"I don't know where that's come from. I'm desperate for a sporting director. We need that person, his expertise, it is a never ending network. I had a very good relationship with Dan Ashworth, a very good relationship with Richard Hughes at Bournemouth. We need the right man and we need the position filled."

On the market campaign overall, Howe also stated: "A lot happened. I always say the same thing with transfer windows. We can make snap judgements but time will always tell. I like the feel of the group but it's a new squad and a new team and we will go and have to prove how good we are but I really like the feel of the squad.

"You have to trade. We have sold players we didn't want to historically for PSR reasons and we hope we are in a position we don't have to make those decisions in the future. You want to make football decisions rather than financial decisions."

Finding momentum

On hosting Wolves on Saturday, Howe admits he sees it as a chance to bank three points and find some winning momentum.

He said, "It is a huge game for us in our Premier League season. It's been a slow start in terms of results but I don't think it has been in terms of our performances.

"We need to build momentum into our season quickly and Wolves will be a difficult opponent. As always when we play at home it is a special environment and we need our supporters with us, as they always are.
