Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has hit back at Jamie Carragher over his comments on Mohamed Salah.

Carragher has found himself at the heart of the Salah controversy this week, calling the Egyptian’s interview after the Leeds United game last weekend a “disgrace” and was “choreographed”.

Haaland's first-half spot-kick at the Santiago Bernabeu was enough to help City to a 2-1 win over Real Madrid on Wednesday nigth and he spoke to Carragher as well as Micah Richards on CBS Sports Golazao.

The Norwegian striker opened with: "Oof I'm getting nervous now when I see Jamie Carragher in the studio".

Carragher replied, "You don't have to be nervous Erling!".

Richards commented: "I mean, I think I need to say Rudiger now because Carragher is a bit of a loose cannon!".

Finally, Haaland had a suggestion and said, "I mean Jamie Carragher in this moment, and Roy Keane, I think I need to bring my father.”

Salah posted his gym picture at the AXA Training Centre earlier this week as he sat alone after being left behind as the Liverpool squad jetted off to face Inter Milan. Interestingly, Haaland liked the post, which may suggest that the City striker supports the winger in what is an awkward situation.

Dominik Szoboszlai’s 88th-minute penalty was enough to secure a win for the Reds, who face Brighton this weekend in what could be Salah’s final appearance for the side.
