Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is taking his medical ahead of a deadline day switch to Liverpool.

Earlier today, it was stated that Liverpool were “now confident of finalising a deal” for Guehi, as reported by Ben Jacobs and talkSPORT’s Alex Crook. Now, it looks like the England international is ready to make the switch to the Premier League champions with just a few hours left of the transfer window.

Now, The Athletic journalist David Ornstein reports that Guehi is due to take his medical in London, which will bring a huge sigh of relief for Liverpool supporters.

“BREAKING: Marc Guehi to undergo medical in London before proposed permanent switch from Crystal Palace to Liverpool. Deal for 25yo #CPFC centre-back agreed at £35m + 5yr #LFC contract in place as all parties work to seal #DeadlineDay move.”

Guehi, 25, recently entered the final year of his contract with Palace and if he were not sold this summer then there was a strong chance that The Eagles would have lost him for free next season.

France international Konate also went off injured during Sunday's 1-0 win at home to Arsenal which only pushed Guehi’s move forward for manager Arne Slot whose defence has been very leaky since the start of the campaign.

The moves come after Palace manager Oliver Glasner said he would prefer to keep Guehi, who he thinks is unreplaceable now that the transfer deadline has arrived.

“We have no chance to find the right replacement in one day. We all agreed that we just sell Marc if we have the right replacement in the building.”
