Joelinton had been substituted before Gabriel's header and took issue with the antics of Arsenal's staff at the final whistle.
The Brazil midfielder made a beeline for coach Miguel Molina and shoved the Spaniard before Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta intervened along with Newcastle coach Simon Weatherstone.
Arteta attempted to diffuse the situation by shaking hands with Joelinton, but the midfielder remained visibly angry as he was leaving the pitch.
