Lucas Paqueta has been acquitted of spot-fixing charges, but a damning report has criticised the FA for serious procedural flaws.

According to The Guardian, a 314-page commission report examining the West Ham star’s case highlighted the FA’s failure to provide an independent assessment of the betting data, calling it an “obvious flaw.”

The Brazil international faced four counts of deliberately picking up yellow cards in Premier League matches between November 2022 and August 2023 to financially benefit relatives back home.

The report also noted contradictions between the FA and its key witness, betting integrity investigator Tom Astley, suggesting uncertainty over the case presented.

Paqueta has been cleared of all charges, and the FA reportedly does not plan to appeal the verdict.
