But moving to Barrow represents a first senior one for a player, who can operate as a centre-back or at right-back.
“I’m buzzing and I can’t wait to get some men’s senior experience under my belt,” Thompson said.
“I’d say I play on the front foot, I’m aggressive and like to win duels which the Gaffer has mentioned to me, so I think it is a great fit.
“I’m looking forward to getting going this weekend, it will be a tough game but hopefully we can get a result.”
