It’s understood that any potential move would be a loan, with a move to sister club Strasbourg looking the most likely.
With Chelsea not featuring in any form of European football this season, minutes are expected to be hard to come by for the 21-year-old.
Essugo joined Chelsea from Portuguese club Sporting for £18 million last summer, but injuries made it hard for him to adapt to life at the club in his first season.
