Carrick makes first transfer call as Man Utd manager

Off contract in June, it's been suggested the centre-half could be on the move in January as interest arrives from across the world.

But The Sun says Carrick has convinced United's top brass not to consider offers for Maguire, despite this window being the final chance to raise cash from his departure.

The decision - supported by the board - is Carrick's first dealing with the transfer market.

Maguire is now fully fit and featured in last week's FA Cup defeat to Brighton.
