Sunderland captain Granit Xhaka has hailed his side's 'good energy' following their 0-0 Premier League draw with Man City on Thursday (January 1).

Sunderland had to endure a lot of pressure from Pep Guardiola’s side to secure an impressive point at the Stadium of Light.

Xhaka, who has been a key reason Sunderland have done so well this season, was outstanding once again.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the former Arsenal midfielder hailed his side’s ‘good energy.’

"In the end, of course, you want to win games but we need to see the reality as well. We just came up to the Premier League after so many years and we had a couple of changes in the team. Nearly 15/16 new players and it's not always easy to get so quick together,” he said.

"It's just the energy, our dressing room is so positive. We have such good energy with the staff, with the players. In the end, the results speak for ourselves because we are putting a lot of effort day by day, week by week. I think we can be very happy for the moment after the first round."
