The veteran striker, whose calendar year included a starring role as Liverpool won the Premier League and Egypt qualified for next summer’s World Cup, faces competition from PSG's Morocco wing-back Achraf Hakimi and Galatasaray's Nigerian star Victor Osimhen.
For many, Osimhen is favourite for the title, despite Nigeria's shock World Cup failure.
The winner will be announced at the CAF Awards ceremony on Wednesday (November 19) in Rabat, Morocco.
