Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final was overshadowed by controversial VAR decisions as the two sides aim to up their ante at the Emirates next week.
Now, after leapfrogging Manchester City with that win against Newcastle, Arteta’s side have the chance to move six points clear at the top of the table when they welcome London rivals Fulham as focus turns back to the Premier League.
Ahead of the game however, Agbonlahor believes that the Arteta lacks trust in one particular player despite the side being exhausted.
“They’re looking really tired. And I hope this doesn’t affect Arsenal. They’ve got a chance of winning two trophies.
“When you watch Declan Rice, and especially on Saturday, he looks shattered when you watch him.”
“I’m surprised Norgaard hasn’t played a lot more this season because he was Brentford’s captain,’ he added.
“I thought he was fantastic at Brentford. He doesn’t trust him at all. He’s played hardly any games this season.”
The midfielder has been an unused substitute in five of Arsenal’s last six games, and has played just 56 minutes of league football this season under Arteta.
Norgaard may be seeking a move away this summer after turning 32 years old as he looks for more game time and a manager that will give him a chance, especially when the side need to rotate.
