Monaco are planning to delay Paul Pogba's debut until October, despite his eagerness to return to the pitch after joining the club.

Two years away from the pitch, a doping suspension and with the end of his career approaching, Pogba is back and is desperate to return to pitch once more to prove his worth. The 32-year-old has been without a club since being released by Juventus last November and has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain his fitness.

Despite this, Monaco chief executive, Thiago Scuro revealed that the World Cup winner will not be rushed back and will instead have to patient before he makes his debut for the Ligue 1 side.

"I can guarantee he won't be on the pitch against Le Havre. We are here to be realistic. We expect a three-month process.

“High-level sport is a lot about science and it is not easy. Monaco is one of the most intense teams in Ligue 1 and play a style that requires him to be fit."

That means the Frenchman’s potential debut for Monaco could be in early October, as the club keep bringing him up to full speed after so much time away from not only the pitch but also the training ground which could impact his ability in a full length game.

Pogba’s return represents a bold sporting gamble for Monaco as even though he brings quality and a great personality to the side, he could struggle to keep up with the rest of the side at 32 years old.

He joins former England defender Eric Dier and Ansu Fati from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, respectively in what is a very exciting project at Monaco where it is the ultimate blend and youth and experience.
