FC Porto have submitted an official bid for Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior who is unwanted by manager Mikel Arteta.

Kiwior, 25, signed for Arsenal for £20M in January 2023 from Italian side Spezia which means sporting director Andrea Berta has managed to turn a modest profit on a player who made 68 appearances under Arteta

The Polish defender is wanted by Porto who launched a bid on Tuesday morning with the hopes of snapping him up ahead of this weekend when they face league rivals Sporting Lisbon. Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news which won’t be a huge surprise to Arsenal fans.

“FC Porto official bid for Jakub Kiwior has just been received by Arsenal.

“Fee in excess of €25m package add-ons included on loan with obligation to buy.

“Kiwior has already said yes to Porto, #AFC in talks over details of the bid.”

The Dragons have strong hope that a deal can be secured, whether that be a loan move with an option to buy or an outright permanent transfer. They see Kiwior as their main target right now and reports state that they are desperate to progress talks as quick as possible.

Kiwior is keen to make the switch and has already ‘said yes’ to joining Porto, who have won Portugal’s Primeira Liga 30 times in their history and would be an ideal side to find more game time that simply won’t come under Arteta.
