Talks are now underway between FSG and Getafe president Angel Torres.
Torres has reduced his initial demands of £160m to sell down to a flat £100m.
FSG were also eyeing off Segunda Division Malaga this year before pulling back.
Driving the Getafe takeover is Michael Edwards, who heads Liverpool and FSG's global operation and has been tasked with finding a second football club for the Americans.
