Newly-re-elected Barcelona president Joan Laporta says an announcement over coach Hansi Flick's new contract is due.

Speaking on RAC1, Laporta declared Flick's continued role as coach and also pledged to renew the contracts of striker Robert Lewandowski, on-loan Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford and sports director Deco.

The president, who will officially take office on July 1st, explained that the agreement with the German coach will be announced shortly.

Laporta said, "The current board can renew Flick 's contract. We want to renew it until 2028, with the idea that each season has a one-year grace period. He's in favor, and we'll announce the agreement shortly because he's very happy here. It's a decision made by Hansi, (Rafael) Yuste, and Deco . I'd really like to renew it.

"This rapport with Flick is very important. He knows a lot about football. It would demonstrate stability and show that we're winning. I think it's possible he'll stay at Barça for another five years . He's a young man, with a lot of energy, and he's happy in the city."

He continued:  "I hope Deco wants to stay. He's a reserved, introverted person, happy with his work. He suffers a lot, he has a strong character. He gets along very well with Flick and they respect each other as individuals. In Lewandowski's case, I'd like him to continue if he wants to. Deco's intention is to stay. He deserves it.

"He came to Barca in a very difficult situation. If he wants to stay, we'd like him to. He's accepted the role he's been given and he combines well with Ferran Torres. With the two of them, the position would be covered, but if we have to sign someone, we'll do it. Harry Kane would be the same age as Lewandowski ..."

On Rashford, Laporta added: "Marcus is performing very well with assists and goals, and hopefully if he plays he will help us get through the tie. We will try to talk to Manchester United."
