Returning boss Jose Mourinho starts work back in Madrid after the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the club are already working on several transfer deals as outlined by the veteran Portuguese coach.
Marc Cucurella has joined as part of an eye-catching transfer move from Chelsea alongside free agent swoops for Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries is due to join up in July from Serie A champions Inter Milan.
Alongside the new arrivals, there will also be sales, with experienced midfielder Dani Ceballos moving on after agreeing a mutual contract termination, on the heels of a double departure for ex-captain Dani Carvajal and David Alaba after their deals expired.
Fran Garcia could be the next defender to move on, with the Spaniard potentially slipping down to fourth choice at left-back following Cucurella's arrival, and Mourinho is not reportedly counting on him as an option for 2026/27.
Garcia wants to speak to Mourinho when preseason starts for non World Cup players in mid-July, but the situation already looks to be clear, and with less than a year left on his contract, Los Blancos are open to a cut-price sale.
LaLiga rivals Real Betis have registered an interest in bringing him to Andalucia for a €10M fee and Garcia is keen to stay in Spain if possible according to Diario AS.
Mourinho is also looking at trimming down other areas of his new squad, with French pair Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavniga both potentially moving on to he Premier League, and the club are open to season-long loan offers on Franco Mastantuono and Gonzalo Garcia as per the last from Madrid.
