Discussing the Bavarian club's prudence in the transfer market, Hoeness took aim at Barca's past transfer policy.

Reflecting on Florian Wirtz choosing Liverpool over Bayern when leaving Bayer Leverkusen over the summer, Hoeness said on Sport1: "Of course we would have liked to have Wirtz, but we know what we have in the bank.

"That's just as important as sporting success.

"Take Barcelona as an example. If you just buy, buy, buy... then end up with debts of €1.2 billion and you can't do anything."

Hoeness also stated, “We decided against permanent signings after (Luis) Diaz as we have to pay attention to our financial situation."
