While they had two good penalty shouts turned away, Simeone declared Real deserved their 3-2 win afterwards.
He said: "I don't think we didn't win because of that. We had the opportunity to create good chances but we didn't take advantage of them. We deserved at least a little more.
"I don't think the referee interfered with the game. We could have done much more, defended their goals better, and done more in attack. We have opponents who play well, and they'll punish you for any mistake you make.
"(We were missing) more control of the game, a different way of attacking. We weren't able to put all that into play at the key moment. I've already explained for the fourth time what I think happened in the match."
On Ademola Lookman, who scored on the night, Simeone said of their January signing: "He's been improving, working very well, he gives us different things and we're helping him grow defensively because he has that skill set and he's a guy with a huge heart and a desire to learn.
"Hopefully he'll continue to give us important things like today."
