Sheffield United have now confirmed the signing of Aston Villa forward Louie Barry on a season-long loan deal.

Barry was in high demand in the Championship during last season's January window but it was then manager Ruben Selles who snapped him up. Now, after being sacked by the Tigers, Selles has signed the young England star once more after taking over at Sheffield United this summer.

The former England youth international joined Villa from Barcelona in January 2020 and made his senior debut against Liverpool in the FA Cup before going on to lift the FA Youth Cup. Speaking after putting pen to paper, Barry revealed that Selles was a major factor in his decision to make the move happen.

"The first time I had conversations about it, I just couldn't wait to come here. The season is three weeks away, and I know we have a couple of friendlies before, but I am just buzzing to get started.

"I've been at Villa, playing games, training and working hard just for whatever will come next. As I say, when a club like this comes calling, you can't turn it down and I can't wait to get into it.

"I love his (Rubén Sellés) style of play, it is exactly what I stand for as a player. I just want to get to the goal as quick as possible. I have got a really good relationship with the gaffer and the staff, so I can't wait to get into training now."

Louie Barry’s future has been one of the main talking points at Villa this summer after an injury cut him time at Hull short. Now, he finds himself in the Championship once again as he hopes to bounce back and regain the form that led so many sides to fight for his signature last season.
