Arsenal’s quadruple hopes were crushed after losing to Manchester City in the EFL Cup final and being knocked out the FA Cup by Southampton at the weekend.
Mikel Arteta and his side will be aiming to bounce back and reach the semi-finals in successive seasons, and only a fourth time overall in their history.
Arsenal remain the only side yet to suffer defeat in Europe’s elite competition this season and will hope to maintain that statistic as they make their way to Portugal this Tuesday.
However, the side will be without a number of players including Jurrien Timber (Groin/Hip/Pelvic Injury) Piero Hincapie Reyna (Other) in defence and Mikel Merino (Ankle/Foot Injury), Eberechi Eze (Calf/Shin/Heel Injury) in midfield.
Arteta revealed on Monday that Bukayo Saka (Other) is also missing from the side as he missed training on Monday morning.
The England star pulled out of international duty and missed the Southampton clash as worries grow that the winger may not be available for a number of weeks.
Speaking to the press in his pre-game media conference, Arteta confirmed that Saka and Timber not travelled to Portugal as they aim to be fit for the Premier League clash with Bournemouth this weekend.
"They're having trouble," Arteta said. "They're not ready yet. Let's see. Hopefully, they're going to be ready for the weekend if everything goes well.”
