The former Chelsea and Arsenal defender is thriving with the Cypriots and is set to face Juventus in the Champions League tomorrow night.
Giaretta told Tuttosport: "I assure you that when I arrived, it was difficult to convince any player, let alone a player like David Luiz.
"First, we had to convince them of the opportunity in Cyprus, then at Pafos. We have a far-sighted owner, however. In their strategy, they tried to convince high-level executives, so as to attract valuable professionals. They recognize our professionalism and the project.
"Then, some important connections with the agents certainly doesn't hurt.
"David was open to the project from the beginning, which was very beneficial from a personal perspective. I saw that the athlete was still at a high level: the fact that he was healthy was the starting point.
"He has 24 million followers. He has a huge impact abroad. Do you know that in Brazil they now watch our games live? For us, it's a significant added value. And he's playing as I expected, he's really giving it his all."
