Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is set to hand academy players Shea Lacey and Jack Fletcher a chance against Everton.

As the Africa Cup of Nations approaches, United are preparing to lose Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui in what will be a huge blow for Amorim who will need to rotate his side.

Lacey and Fletcher have both been consistently training with the first team this season and now, as reported by The Standard, Amorim will hand the pair places in the squad ahead of Monday’s clash with Everton

However, Amorim has not started a homegrown player in the league this season, and United’s tradition of always including a youth player in the squad has not paid off for those wanting to break into the first team.

Lacey is a teenage attacker who is comfortable playing as either a right-winger or an attacking midfielder. Meanwhile, Fletcher has been involved in an array of senior match day squads since former manager Erik ten Hag called him up last October for the 2-1 win over Brentford.

Lacey has yet to feature in a senior match day squad for United, and could feature in United’s attack as Amorim experiments with his side over the next few weeks.

United currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League and could move up to 4th if they beat the Toffees by a certain goal margin. Lacey and Fletcher will hope Amorim switches up his side as the pair try and leave their mark on the first team.
