Aston Villa have reportedly reached an agreement with Morgan Rogers over a new long-term contract.

The 23-year-old’s current deal was set to expire in 2030, putting Unai Emery’s side in a strong position to fend off interest from other clubs.

Rogers is now said to be close to signing an extension at Villa Park. However, like Villa’s slow start to the season, the former Middlesbrough midfielder has struggled to recapture his best form, appearing lethargic and uninspired at times.

In late August, he even hinted at a possible future exit, despite stating he was happy to remain at the club.

"I’m happy here (Aston Villa). I love football. I love nothing more than just coming out on the pitch and playing football and that’s what I’m doing,” said Morgan.

“I don’t think about anything else. I can’t predict the next 12 months or anything in the future. It’s just about playing football, enjoying my football and showing everyone what I can do."
