"But my family keeps me grounded, nothing changes there. When I try to go to the store on the corner it gets a little more attention, but otherwise it's okay. I take it easy."
Reports have claimed that Mainoo - along with Rasmus Hjlund, 21, and Alejandro Garnacho, 19, are unsellable.
"All of us young guys, Amad (Diallo) too, have a lot of fun together. We have clearly become close this season," says Mainoo.
The English midfielder has a contract with United that runs until the summer of 2027.
