He told evertonfc.com: "Listen, I've had better times with the Club when we were in European competitions regularly but the size of this club, the magnitude of this club, the history of it it gives you great pride to be fighting for it, when it's at probably the lowest its been in a long time with stuff, to be completely honest, we have no control over as players.
The situation this season has been out of our hands as players and staff with the points deductions.
We gave our all and it does give you a great sense of pride in fighting for this football club and saying, 'Right, despite these points deductions, we're going to make sure we stay in this league'."
On the contract offer, he added: Along with the manager, we said we would get these (last) couple of games out of the way. I had missed a few games so that was my focus.
Now will be time to sit down and talk about it, but I absolutely love this football club as everybody knows. It means so much to me and it's been my life, my family's life it's a special football club. But we will see in the next couple of weeks."
