Per Di Marzio, Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca of Ipswich and Leicester City are the two top candidates.

Brighton's former boss Roberto De Zerbi is also being linked, with Thomas Tuchel is an outside contender to come back.

One who was linked to the job, but is Bayern Munich bound, is Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

Speaking to Soccernews.nl, Di Marzio said: Chelsea are looking for a younger coach in this new era and want someone with a football proposal that promotes offensive football and at the moment the two coaches they want are Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca."

"They will have direct contact in the next few hours and days ahead and will both have to convince Chelsea they're the right coach."
