Lamine Yamal declared Spain’s official “arrival” at the 2026 World Cup after scoring his first goal at the tournament in a convincing 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia.

The Barcelona star helped spark an emphatic response from Luis de la Fuente’s side following a disappointing goalless draw in their opening Group H fixture.

The 18-year-old admitted the squad used the frustration of their opening result as motivation, determined to prove they remain serious contenders for the world title.

"The first game was something that wasn't us, it was different, but already we have arrived and we are going for more," Yamal told the media.

"To draw a match that we know you have to win stings us, it has made us think a lot, to arrive at this match as we wanted."
