West Ham United have launched a bid for Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles.

Sky Sports says Newcastle have rejected a bid of £20m, rising to £25m, from West Ham for their captain and centre back Lascelles.

Newcastle insiders have insisted that the player is not for sale.

The 24-year old reported back for pre-season training at Newcastle on Friday, with Everton also understood to be interested.

However, Lascelles has stated in recent days that Newcastle is no longer a "stepping stone" for players to leave for bigger clubs.
