Reading caretaker coach Eamonn Dolan admits the players' confidence is rock bottom.

Dolan confesses his first job has been to try to raise the spirits of his squad.

He said: "The players are on the floor. Normally when a manager goes, by the nature of the job, some players may not be disappointed. In this situation, every player is disappointed. But that tells you everything about Reading football club.

"We will do what we always do at Reading, what Brian and Nigel Gibbs used to do, and that's work hard. They're a great group [of players]. They realise this is a great club and we need to be in the Premier League next year."
