QPR boss Harry Redknapp was shocked by the sacking of Brian McDermott by Reading.

Redknapp wrote in the Daily Mail: "Brian McDermott did a great job at Reading and they sacked him, how can you get your head round that decision? Nigel Adkins earned two consecutive promotions and still got sacked.

"In many ways, for managers in the Championship, it seems like there is no point in getting promoted because you've got more chance of getting the sack in the Barclays Premier League."
