Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti admits Leonardo never officially resigned as coach last week.
The Brazilian has since taken up the sports director's role at PSG.
"Leonardo is still the Inter Coach," insisted Moratti. "He hasn't left yet, it's just he was given the freedom to see if there was a chance of taking on another role, because his primary job in life is not to be a tactician.
"In any case, I could just recall Leonardo. Would that be possible? Of course."
