Klopp urges Liverpool fans not to protest during game

Jurgen Klopp has appealed to Liverpool fans not to disrupt their momentum.

The Anfield crowd will be staging a protest against a raising of ticket prices for next season.

While Klopp appreciates that the fans need to have their say, he wants the team to do well against Atalanta in the Europa League quarter final.

“The flags are not there. As long as the people are there, it's all good." he said ahead of the game.

“I understand the concerns, definitely. It is a tricky one from my point of view.

“It is clear we want people in the stadium, we want to make it available for everybody. We are a self-sustaining club — I can tell everybody, while I've been here each pound went into football.

“I am pretty sure they will find a solution. In these situations, it starts with maybe a protest and then discussions follow, and that's good.

“But we should make sure there is nothing that gets between us and the supporters. Discuss it, yes, but between the two whistles we just have to be Liverpool and that is what I am asking for.

“It would be worse if only the flags were in the stand, and nobody else. We had that (during Covid) and we don't want that again! This way is OK.'

Klopp added: “The relationship between the fans and us is based on performances. If we give our all, the people will be there to give the decisive push. We don't take this atmosphere for granted."
