Barely months after his celebrated return to the Viola, Pioli has been axed with Fiorentina now firmly inside the bottom three of the Serie A table.

Fiorentina announced this morning: "Stefano Pioli is no longer the coach of Fiorentina.
"ACF Fiorentina announces that Stefano Pioli has been relieved of his duties as coach of the men's first team today. The club wishes to thank the coach and his staff for the professionalism they have demonstrated throughout their work.
"The technical leadership of the first team has been temporarily entrusted to coach Daniele Galloppa, effective from this afternoon's training session."
