Chelsea have dropped points to Leeds and Burnley in recent weeks whilst Arsenal have also had a sloppy run of form as they drew against Brentford and Wolves.
A win over Tottenham last week, allowed the Gunners to restore a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table as they aim to extend that gap to eight points with a win over their London rivals.
Not since August 2021 have Chelsea managed to win over the Gunners, a statistic that Arsenal will take confidence from heading into the clash.
However, manager Mikel Arteta is missing a number of key players including Ben White (other) in defence as week as Max Dowman (ankle / foot) and Mikel Merino (ankle / foot) in midfield.
Arteta gave an update on Dowman earlier this month and revealed he could return after the Chelsea clash.
“Max is still not available. The rest, we will see when we make the medical meeting. He's doing very well. I think he will be with us in a week or so, and then he just needs to pick up the rhythm and be available for us.”
Further up the pitch, both Kai Havertz (thigh) and Bukayo Saka (ankle / foot) are said to be out of the squad as Arteta relies on the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Leandro Trossard in attack.
Saka limped off against Tottenham after he suffered an awkward ankle twist in the final minutes of the clash. Arteta was not asked about winger after the game as fans eagerly await to see if he is okay to feature.
