Wrexham may have fallen short of a historic push for the Premier League, but co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney remain defiant after a season that surpassed expectations.

Despite missing out on the Championship play-offs following a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough, the Hollywood duo dismissed pre-season predictions that tipped the club for a relegation fight.

Manager Phil Parkinson echoed that sentiment, highlighting the squad’s achievements in their first second-tier campaign in 43 years.

Parkinson believes this group is only beginning to find its level and can build on a remarkable campaign moving forward.

“In terms of what the lads have given us as a group, I don't think we could have had much more,” he explained.

“I think this squad together, as it stands, with a pre-season together will be even stronger next year. Of course we'll always look to try and add to that to give ourselves an even better chance, but we'll have a break now and we'll come back and go again.”
