Despite the delays, the Express & Star says Wolves are expected to announce Edwards as new manager "imminently".
A deal to 2028 has been agreed between Edwards and Wolves, with the Premier League club paying around £2m to Boro in compensation.
Its been suggested the delays have centred around the need for Edwards to build a new backroom team.
Edwards, a former Wolves defender and academy coach, will replace Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed last week.
