The Daily Mail says Potter has agreed a six-month deal with the FA to lead Sweden to next year's World Cup finals.
If successful, there is the option to extend the arrangement.
With Ostersunds, Potter spent seven years, leading them from the local fourth division to the Allsvensken and a Swedish Cup triumph.
