Newcastle United summer signing Yoane Wissa recovery timeline has been revealed as he remains out for a number of weeks.

The former Brentford forward is yet to make his Newcastle debut under manager Eddie Howe following his summer move after sustaining a knee injury whilst on international duty last month.

Howe recently gave an update on the 29-year-old, who is doing everything he can to return to the pitch.

"Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six.

"No recurrence or problem, just slightly longer."

Despite specialist help, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Wissa will not return until after the international break in what is a huge blow for Howe and his side.

“Newcastle new signing Yoane Wissa remains out until after October international break.

“The schedule for his return has been extended from 4 to 8 weeks, as @SkySports_Keith reports.”

Fellow summer signing Nick Woltemade has stepped up to lead the line in his absence however and has bagged 3 goals in his 6 appearances so far.

He will surely start once more against Nottingham Forest this week as Newcastle attempt to climb into the top half of the table.
